I've had better luck with Goodyear hoses; they fit MUCH better than the gates
ones, and look spot-on compared to dealer hoses.
Gates pre-formed hoses for some applications were off even 20 years ago (IIRC,
upper radiator hose for an 82 Ford LTD (midsize, not fullsize), 3800 V6.)

O'Reillys had them last summer, on the shelf. I didn't buy them,
though, so they might have come from somewhere else, but they were

That 258 inline 6 is a tough little engine. Actually not so little... In
the CJ-7 that my son had, we rebuilt the 258 inline 6 engine and bored out
Clifford makes some WAY cool stuff for the 258 and they can push 300HP
built and like was said the torque will snap u-joints all day in a stock
drivetrain.

Yep, that's the stock, emissions choked 258.My SX4 had a Weber
carb, clifford cam, header, bored .030 over, .015 off the head and a shift
kit in the tranny..That thing would fry the tires clean off the
wheels and pulled 27mpg on the highway...Couldn't have asked for
