deposit it, and then wait for it to clear.
Usually, certified checks are fakes if they're for an amount HIGHER than the
sale price, then the guy asks you to write him a check for the difference.

I've seen instances where Credit Card payments were reversed 18 months after
the original transaction. Most common is for the buyer to claim the
transaction was fraudulent - that is a guaranteed chargeback no matter who

You're talking about not delivering the title (or the car?) to the buyer
before his check clears? Sounds good, but I wonder what buyer would actually
tolerate that - especially if they are barely convinced to buy the car in
the first place.
