Hi Richard --- I have to disagree with you on this one. I think most
dealers would prefer this, especially if you list for $.99 or under for
which there will be no listing fees. If you list at a price above $.99,
the insertion fees will be drastically reduced. I think this is a smart
move because

Hi, Everyone,
I'm not selling this poster, but anyone out there who collects 30's Art

How many dealers are listing items for .99¢ or less?
Not many.
So the trade off for a slight reduction in listing fees is that for items
selling for $25 or more where eBay used to take 3.5% of the final selling
price for their commission, they will now take a full 9% up to a $50 cap?
That's a
Pretty substantial hike for listing items in a basic store also. Before you
could list an item at $24.99 or less for 3 cents and renew it every 30 days
for the same price. Now that price is going to 20 cents an item. Probably be
at 35 cents in 2011 and 50 cents by 2012. After that, it doesn't

The store listing fees will perhaps be a greater impact than the FVF rises.

Healthy increase to say the least!
5000 items in a basic store goes from $150 a month to $1000 a month - only a
666% increase!
What can you name that can keep up with that rate of inflation??

Under the current system using your hypothetical auction item starting at
$45 and receiving one bid you are correct. You would pay a $1.00 listing
fee and a final value fee of $2.89, for a total of $3.89.
Under eBay's upcoming model using the same item you would pay a .75¢ listing

Hi Dave.
many people will opt to go from their basic store to a premium store to
keep the listings at 3 or 5 cents.
this will cost an additional $34.00 per month in the upfront store

sales because the listings
It will be interesting to see the results of these changes. Not sure that sales
will necessarily increase because the main search will now be flooded with
store items. Ultimately, I think many sellers will upgrade their store
subscriptions and increase prices to cover the fees.
