You sound like a martyr...saying you'll "accept your loss". If it was me,
I'd ask for a partial refund.

Sheeshwhy don't you just ask the dealer for a partial refund and keep
the damn poster. This isn't rocket science. So much whining and
complaining. Either keep the poster or tell the seller you expect him to pay
your
cost for shipping it back. He sounds like a reasonable person. What's
1) any dealer that will not pay return costs or apply a post-sale
discount when they make a mistake is voiding his responsibility as a
responsible, honest dealer
2) his guarantee when making a sale should always be "you will get

John I did understand. My position however is that if the dealer made
a mistake, then what he says in his return privileges goes out the
window. It's the dealer's mistake..

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I
as to your questions richi paid high for the
title..it did not sell for a long time. so people believing it
was near mint as i did, dint think it was a good value. now, with
this defect, it is worth a lot less... and seller
is not cooperating in the return.
how much in value could a $40 poster decrease?
was this insert folded in quarters as normal, and then folded in half again
(about a 5" x 14" rectangle)? is that how it got 4 extra folds?
or are the extra folds just where it was originally folded and then sloppily
folded back creating an extra?
when i first wrote, i thought people might comment about the decrease in
value due to 4 extra folds.
over the last year, i was outbid twice..once with a bidding
war--on bruce's site for an insert. i recall, the poster selling at
bruce's site

Hi Rich
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I agree that seller should usually
pay for return postage if they make a mistake and I always do that. However,
if a seller specifically states in the auction that they don't pay for return
shipping then that is what is likely to happen.

John, I disagree
if a seller has mis-described or not properly reported condition
issues that should be noted if not visible, then I believe (as I'm
sure does Bruce, Sean and most dealers) that I should be paying
return shipping - unless some other deal was worked out like a small

I agree with this point, John.
But because this buyer chooses to shroud the auction link and/ or the
title in secrecy, no one can read or verify what the seller's Return
Policy was.
That is why I have asked now, several times for the poster auction
info. Remains to be seen.

Just another point about this. The issue seems to be about whether the seller
should pay for return shipping. eBay actually requires all sellers to specify a
return policy and also to indicate who pays for the poster to be sent back.
Surely it should be just a case of checking the sellers policy
I think many will find this reply as confusing as the rest ...
How can you say you got burned in this transaction, when the seller

Fascinating is all I can say.
