having a hell of a time getting mandrake installed on my machine and

When installing the 8.2 pack I get stuck at the language selection screen
(the very first screen). No response from keyboard or mouse which are
serially connected to the USB port of a Packard Bell box. Is there no
support for USB keyboards ?

My uncle is wanting to designate a computer as a file server at his office. He wants

I have a Crystal Audio PnP soundcard. Harddrake comes up with 3
components:
Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC
Crystal PnP Audio System MPU-401
Crystal PnP Audio System Control Registers
The CODEC seems to be fine, under Kernel Module the MPU-401 &
Control Registers say: unknown.

Hi,
I have got the following problems with the installation:
the nessessary files for the distribution I have downloaded form the
internet and burned it (with Nero on NT) on a bootable CD.
The first problem was that booting from the CD dos not work. It stoped at
the second line with "SysLinux ..

Through a careless mistake, I restored an old rc.local file over my default
Mandrake installed /etc/rc.d/rc.local file.
