On my way home this A.M. after a dentist appointment in Jamesport, I had 11
Turkey Vultures heading n/e, as they circled over Sound Ave. Also had 2
more over Middle Rd., Riverhead, a short time afterward.

This afternoon, between 1545 and 1635, I recorded between 32 and 39 TV's,
plus 3 Black Vultures. The latter were all next to each other on the
Roanoke Ave Elementary School's chimney, along with, at different times, up
to 7 TV's...and was able to get some neat pictures to boot ! There were

Today I saw my first Snowy Owl of the season...but it almost didn't happen
! Arriving at Dune Rd., by way of the Post Lane Bridge, Quogue, I headed
east, on my 3rd or 4th try for this season's much reported, *Nyctea
scandiaca.* While I had some nice birds on D.R. before reaching Shinnicock
Inlet, i
While trying to repair my shower door, I found the need for 3 larger screws
than I had in my stockpile. Arriving at Griffing's Hardware in Riverhead,
as I got out of the car, I looked up to see a Red-tailed Hawk circling
overhead...a possible sign ? After purchasing what I needed, I routed

in that dubious distinction ! I did, however, see an A.Bittern in open
water o
Today at ~ 1530, after picking up clothes at the dry-cleaners in Riverhead,
my route home took me past the Roanoke Ave Elementary School, where
lo-and-behold, 4 Turkey Vultures were up warming themselves atop the
school's chimney ! Across the street at # 542 (1st house n/o the Firehouse)

After attending the 1100 Mass today, while walking to my car, I looked up
and saw a single Turkey Vulture ( could it have been "Lonesome George")
making its way in an easterly direction. My immediate thought was that I
was being rewarded with a "legal" reason to send this post to wish all on

Today, I freed up by noon, and headed out toward Orient Point County Park
to try to find the Snowy Owl found by John Sep earlier this week. With the
advent of a C.Raven in flight over the intersection of Northville Turnpike
& Route 105 before leaving Riverhead, my hopes were high for viewing *Bubo
It was mid-afternoon when I nonchalantly turned the computer on to see what
was happening, and from then, to ~ 4 PM when I *safely* arrived at "The
Spot" on the Ocean Parkway and saw the "Crazy Crake", the Lord was my
co-pilot ! It was a "perfect storm/ not" of a trip, with no traffic
holdups, no a
