Sincere congratulations to you both Jackie, you've been in my
thoughts since Wendy told me you were pregnant...(duh, I didn't know when I saw
you at the ACMI AGM - good observational skills Tania!)
Lovely to hear your fantastic story, may it be smooth sailing
from now on in!

I have been lurking on and off over the last few months with a

I have found a lot of my women in birthsuite have had posterior babies
lately! I was thinking it does have something to do with our sedentary
lifestyle as well. Most of them turn toward second stage though, but still,
it's a longer, harder slog to get there with a posterior baby...

Hi Kelly
We tell our mums to get down on all fours then down onto elbows with bottom
in the air. This position helps to disengage the baby's head from the
pelvis. We then get them to relax and sway from side to side but not too
vigorously. The babys more often than not will swing around so their

Leanne,
You could try a midwife from the Portland Hospital maternity unit - Leigh
Pettingall for contact details. Leigh co-ordinates the Maternity Services
Program (MSP) and has worked previously as a homebirth midwife - and MAY
consider antenatal/postnatal shared care.

Hi kelly,
Optimal Foetal Positioning promotes the concept that the baby will lie with
it's back, it's heaviest part to wherever gravity finds it. In other words,
if you sit with your knees lower than your belly, so your belly is forward
of your body, then the baby's back will swing forward. If you

You did so well Andrea - especially under the time restrictions.
Unfortunately the natural birth argument got a whole 3 minutes - as opposed
to the caesarian propaganda which got approx. 3 hrs 10 mins.
I will keep on pushing for natural birth to be more fairly represented - ie.
