There is only one source for handy safe compressed air that I know of
outside of a compressor. It's a small device that uses special, dry, ultra
clean compressed CO2 cartridges so there is no propellant involved. I got
mine from Staples office supply store. Works great.
I would use Q-Tips and car
The HN-7 also fits right over the lens when not in use (50/1.2 and 50/1.4).
Why are the hoods designed for most lenses (notice "most") such a joke?
Nikon also makes a HK-4 which is perfect for the VS1 35-85/2.8. The
Nikon hoods are very, very nice.

Having become a proud papa of his first 35mm film/slide scanner, I can say that the
ability to scan and print is impressive. I'm limited, unfortunately, to my Epson 870
right now so I only muster 8x10 out of a 2820dpi scan.
I'm sure the images could probably go as big as 11x14 (I think 20x30
Bob,
For jobs like this I've got a magnetic tray, about 8"x10" and the bottom
lined with the same sort of magnetic mat that fridge magnets use. Came from
a bargain store for very few dollars, as did a set of plastic tweezers with
various shaped points that are perfect for repositioning tiny part

Paul, You are a camera collector.
I humbly disagree. If I were a collector, my collection would grow larger.
Instead I've been shedding focal lengths (24, 85, 500) and duplicate focal
lengths. It took me two or three purchases of each focal length to find out
what I want, but once I

Old advice from the Nikon School about lens caps to fit over hoods...
"Go to the supermarket and look for a top from a product. When you find one
that fits, buy the product!"

I can hardly wait for the Easter break... to try the 135/1.8.
This is my 3rd A* lens. I have had the A* 85/1.4 for two years

Hi Len,
I know it was made for an 85mm, but it is perfect for a 50mm, even
with a filter on at f16 it will not interfere. It`s perfect (except it says
Nikon) I say. I scored two of them from Pacific Rim for $20 each,
brand new in their cute little boxes, list price is around $70 each.

I disagree, Len. When a bidder sees No Reserve, they have every right to
understand that to mean: "If I outbid everyone, it's mine."

Anthony,
Not a bad night's work.I've done the same repair myself, but didn't
know the baking soda trick. I'll keep it in mind. And you didn't loose that
little ball bearing either that makes the click-stops work. I've got a
A50/1.7 that has the problem.

Peter,
Your cries for help are sounding more and more desperate. You are on the
verge of doing some real damage to your LX if you start to mess-up the
viewfinder distances by trying to disassemble it at home. Don't do that!

The HN-7 may work OK but it was made for 85mm lenses. The HS-12
was made for the 50mm f/1.2. It fits a 52mm filter size. I
have them both. I use the HS-12 on my A50 f/1.2, works great.
See Nikon System Handbook 6th edition, pages 149 through 152 for
