Funny that's what the Spotmatic F metering circuit was supposedly designed to do. If you don't trust it you don't have to use 1.5 volt power supplies in your Spot F, use Wein cells or buy one of these $30.00 adapters. I'm sure that the respective manufacturers will appreciate the business. Howe

That's a great reason for not buying any batteries at all for your H3. But, $30 should not deter others from using their camera's built in meter if that's what they want to use. Most folks I know tend to piss away, or smoke more than that. Just depends on the individual's priorities, I guess.

I don't like kludges, either, and you're right. Kludges have a habit of failing just when you're not able to rebuild the kludge. For the youngsters in the audience, kludge sounds like "klooj" or "klooge". Kludges are OK for a "quick and dirty" temporary fix but not for long term, permanent use.

You could do exactly the same with the MZ-S. If you simply 1) turn it on, 2) turn the aperture ring, 3) turn the main dial to get shutter speed (which can be viewed on top or through the viewfinder) and 4) focus on manual, you would have exactly the same number of movements as a Spotmatic.
