I have read good things about that lens. A bit pricey, but if it will replace 3
other single-focal-length lenses, it's worth it. It looks good in the shot you

My overall feeling is the Pentax is stalled in R&D. There have been rumors of a
full-sized sensor Pentax, which would be wonderful for us who have Pentax

With memory cards as cheap as they are, I don't shoot in anything but RAW. I
never need a string of closely-timed images, so RAW is normal for me. Unless it
is overcast, I won't even think about shooting at midday. I know, it's sort of
a lazy attitude, but dawn and dusk are so much better for la
Are you kidding? It's obviously even greater than the self-preservation urge. I
think my wife won't notice that the camera I'm carrying says K10 on it instead
of the usual K100, but within minutes she busts me. And K5 looks a lot
different from K7. I'm a dead man.

Yeah, I didn't think I was being sexist with my statements. The fact is that,
when people are married, their money is THEIR money, not his money. My wife has
no interest whatsoever in photography, and when I acquire a piece of equipment,
she understands that it is just my hobby.

I assume that's to cover the cost for a person handing it to you. Still, it

Something with as few frills and choices as possible. And megapixels are
insignificant since I doubt that any of them will be making 11x14 prints.
My mother is a senior citizen (89), and I cannot imagine a camera simple enough
for her to use. Next time you're at the store, take note of any seni
I keep thinking about "which model", but there are so many factors. I find that
the modern TINY point and shoot camera are fumbly and hard to hold. You might
ultimately want to go over what all digitals seem to have as features (as in
fully automatic mode), and then tell them to go to WalMart, B
I always use a card reader. So far, I haven't had any damage to the contacts
(at least none that I'm aware of).

I was going to confidently recommend Essex in New Jersey, but a net search
shows that they went out of business. :-(

Doesn't KEH use (or own) something called Peachtree? I got a Fuji folder fixed
by a place in Atlanta with the word Peach in it.

I probably won't buy another Pentax body (I have the K-7 and H-5) until/unless
they come out with a FF body. I have so many lenses that are designed for full
frame (31, 43, etc.), I would really like to be able to take full advantage of
their capabilities. I use the Pentax primarily for photogra

My 28-80 2.8 Tokina zoom is built like a tank and is better with film than with
digital. The zooms that really seem to have gone up in quality (optical and
build) are the Sigmas and Tamrons, IMO. Since the Tokina is a gift, that trumps
paying for a Pentax, Tamron, or Sigma. :-)

Resist any temptation to load more than 36 exposures. It will scratch the film
unless you are using an ultra thin film such as H&W Control Pan film. I had
better luck with metal canisters with a snap on end than the plastic canisters
with a screw on end.
