You can use the WiFi icon in the status bar as an indicator. Once WiFi
is up it usually only takes a fraction of a second to connect the
server.

regularly quit it?

Well, it all depends on MySqueezebox.com's Napster integration.
That's where you'll have to look for issues/fixes.
iPeng can only show what the server delivers since that's all you can
play through the Squeezebox.
I also often get empty albums.

Right now, unfortunately, network comms consume so much power that this
really doesn't matter.
Working on it but right now don't expect more than four hours of
playback on an iPod/iPhone.
It's much less of an issue on iPad which has just a so much bigger
battery.

I believe there is only one way I know about to cause this: there has
to be something wrong with artwork scaling.

No, the Receiver does not work with the official Sporify App.
It does work with the 3rd party plugin and both work fine with iPeng.

It works the same way as for App Store purchases: On the second device
you will have to "purchase" it again and _then_ get the message that
you did already buy it and can now download it for free.

There is one problem with running behind the screen saver; here apps
seem to now stay alive forever when backgrounded which may be a bug
(Apple says they have to find out what the intended behavior is), but

2.000 track playlists really are more than SBS usually can handle well
and if iPeng started to load that playlist it could well be that this
brought the server down for a second or so.
