Hi Ben
Thanks for your reply. I have been quoted £300 to get it repaired but most
repair outfits I contacted said it wasn't worth doing and tried to flog me a

Thanks Chuck, you suggested re the HD with the blinking ? floppy.
Sounds to me like you do not have the SCSI ID set to 0 (first device). And
it also sounds like you have the external set to the start up or the floppy

as STARTUP DISK in control Panel. That is where I would start looking

Hello,
I'm new to this list. I have a PB 1400c, 133mhz, 48 mb, 1.2 g, OS 8.6. I
would like to do some upgrades to this machine.
Like (I assume) most 1400 owners, memory is a problem. I know I can upgrade
to a max of 64 mb internal physical memory. Replacing with the right stuff,
though, is hard

With a price limit like that, a new iBook would fit the bill. Or, if you
wanted to spend less, a used iBook or PB G3 would also do well.

I have an odd problem with my 540C. The desktop has started to show seven
hard drive images. All the images are duplicates of the real hard drive,
all are searchable, any file changes I make to the hard drive shows up in
all versions, all the programs I use seem to be working fine.
