Yes, it took several sessions with the crazy glue to
get the clicker in place. But I use the mouse pad
clicker - don't think the actual clicker would last
too long. But you need a very sensitive touch with the
pad - just try to edit text using the Edit Menu!

Don't expect anything from CD-R or -RW. All burning software really needs
SCSI manager 4.3 which the 1400 doesn't have. External SCSI CD-R is your

of a 3400 (and the puny 1.3 Gig original drive) that I
use. And yes, using 8.6 OS, the drive has a tendancy
to spin down. (It was not a clean install of 8.6, but
a dump from the first CD I ever burned.)

If it's an older model IBM Travelstar, you're stuck with the clack. I
have one in a firewire container (used to be in my 1400), and I'm glad
the wire is so long. When I'm in a hotel, I have to put the thing on a
