Hi everyone.
Bit of a problem with my 3400c. I tried upgrading the HD and managed to get
it in easily enough after buying the correct screwdrivers and all.
Put it all back together and turned it on. And...nothing! No noise, no
internal sounds like whirring, no lights or ANYTHING! Totally dead. Tr

Hi all
I have a PB 160 using OS 7.1. with 4 MB ram. When I start the computer, the screen is
so light that I can see something on it only if I tilt it at some extream angle (so
that it's almost lying flat). I took the battery out and unplugged its powerbrick.
After a few days I tryed it again a

I have 2 old Macintoshes which might be useful to someone for parts:
1. Powerbook Duo 280c - DOES NOT POWER ON, but screen, case, etc. still
good
2. Quadra 605 - chimes but DOES NOT BOOT, intermitent video
The following do work:

Hmmm...
Could work, but risky... I'd be careful with that one.

but sold 'em when I sold the shop.

Yeah, sounds like you are in a predicament...
I actually have a minimal 7.5.2 system folder for the 5300 (enabler
included) here. It came on my 5300ce (about the only _good_ thing I
got out of that deal). The system folder, with no extensions, is
~1.2MB so it should fit on a floppy
If the 280c is still available, I'd love to take it off your hands. Please
let me know. Thanks,

There's also some liquid chemical that solidifies just
enough for you to insert the tool and form a bond

Oops, I'm sorry to imply that you can't. You certainly can do what
you are asking! OS 8.5 disk tools will work just fine. (If you

Because I got my 5300c used, it did not come with
original install disks or anything like that. I loaded
8.6 on it using a localtalk connection (yes, like
waiting for toenails to grow...) I have everything
from 7.1 through 8.6 but all of it is on CD.
I haven't made any startup disks since I was in

Most common problem --sounds like what you're describing--is the
processor is not seated properly.
There's another thread right now about the same type of problem.
