Just one correction to the third point on Steve's reply and that's Command plus
the solo button of the track rather than the track select. Otherwise, yeah, a
track wireless track pad is the most straight-forward solution.

only three ways i know of to solo safe. 1 purchase a track pad, and your back
in busines. 2. purchase a mouse, and use command and hit left click on the
mouse.
3 if you have a control surface, hold down command and hit the select button of
the track you want solo safed.
as the others said,
you can try using numbed pad commander or mouse keys and see if anything
changed in el captain, but as far as i know, the answer is Nope there is not as
voice over doesn’t support clicking while holding down modifier keys with out
clicking a physical mouse.
> On Apr 18, 2016, at 6:40 PM,
You can use a mouse or you can purchase a wireless trackpad as well. That does
not give you the answer you wanted but it does make options possible. I have to
use the mouse or my trackpad with mine.

thanks i’ll try that. It did work after a while when i came back to that task
later in the mix.
Then i solo safe 4 tracks in succession, and could not get it working again an
hour later. so i’ll try hiding the tracks next time, or i’ll try the surface.

I have found if you have to many tracks showing it doesn’t work very well. try
hiding the tracks you don’t want to change anything on and give it a go.

Two things you might want to check is whether you have any other open windows.
Use Control-Option-f2 f2 to bring up a list of open windows. Make sure you only
have the Mix or Mix and Edit windows open. Also, Use Control-Option-f1 f1 to
make sure you don't have system dialogs or notifications

You found out that you needed to solo safe your busses and sends? PS, what
steps are you taking to click on solo safe? I tend to have to try a few
different key combonations until I get it right each time and it's a PEDA.

Hi Eric,
Use the real mouse.
Step #1 find the solo you want to solo safe.
Step#2 move the mouse to it just in case.
Step #3 hold down the command key.
Step #4 while holding down the command click the old mouse! ;)
Do the same to unprotect it.
YMMV
