Something I never asked (or looked for), but do the connection issues

Off to the land of misfit toys.
Tried wlanpoke, tried community firmware, stock firmware, community
firmware again. No use. Can't stay connected for more than five minutes
sitting on top of the wifi access point. I won't be adding a wifi dongle
to make a wireless music player work.

Sadly, wlanpoke did nothing for my Squeezebox Radio. I moved the Radio
to within three feet of my wireless access point. The signal couldn't be
any stronger. It still disconnects after a few minutes and stays
disconnected.

I have an old Radio, actually one of the beta units, still going strong
after many years. But its rechargeable battery is shot. Where would I
find replacement cells to rebuild the battery pack? I'm assuming it can
be rebuilt just by replacing the cells.

I was just trying to play the radio station below, found through TuneIn
and find the same thing. I think what's happening in my case is that the

I suspect that works because that's the primary direction of the
interference.
I experience dropouts when I place the Radio on top of my fridge and use
the microwave. It sits about 3 ft away. Never had to actually restart
the Radio, but it does usually require pressing 'Play'.

My Radio often cuts out, most often due to interference from using a
nearby microwave oven. The it instantly plays if I just hit the play

I suspect the battery is on its last legs, but I also suspect the
Radio's firmware is broken.
Here's the behavior I'm seeing, pretty much every time now:
If the Radio has been plugged in for many hours or days, and I then
unplug it, it instantly turns off, or occasionally displays a low

I still ask: Why not put the patched firmware out there instead of going
through those gyrations? What difference does it make if it's an

This has always been like this, but I was reminded of it again today. I
had my Radio, with battery, plugged in and playing for a couple of
hours. Then I unplugged it to move it another room to play on battery.
In less than a minute I got a low battery screen and it wouldn't play.
So I plugged it
I've been using my Radio for the past week as an alarm clock. I have one
alarm set at 7:45AM daily, which plays an album from my server. The
player isn't synched to any others, and no other players have alarms
set.
This morning, at exactly 6AM, the alarm went off playing the backup
alarm tune.
I've said this in some previous threads: I see exactly the same thing.
The Radio screen saver is often not in its proper state. I don't think
the Radio's firmware was ever completely debugged, and it never will be,
since nobody is doing any further work on it.
Could also be some overlooked issue
A "crash"? The Radio shouldn't be randomly crashing just because there's

In the web interface, check the player's "Power on Resume" setting in
Settings > Audio. Compare it to the setting for the other Radios. I
thought the setting was for handling the case of power the player
up/down, but maybe it also

I've always had odd screensaver and Now Playing behavior on the
Squeezebox Radio. It started during beta testing and exists to this day.
It's never worked right.

Unlike some other systems, LMS has a "Current Playlist" that is an ad
hoc play list to which you can add single tracks, multiple tracks,
albums, even radio stations, to at any time.
I don't have a Duet with Controller, so can't really tell you how to add
tracks using the Controller, but I'm sure

With the Radio, I don't believe that you -can- do manual updates. With
the older players it's just a matter of downloading the firmware and
.version files and placing them in the cache/updates folder. With the
new players it seems that the server must itself first download the

All of my Squeezeboxes reconnect by themselves to the wifi network and

I only have one Radio in the sync group, usually with an SB2 and
Transporter. The rest of the sync group acts normally. It's only the
radio that falls out.

I've seen the behavior where the Radio goes silent when synced. Like
you say, usually turning the volume knob brings it back. Other times
I've had to power it down completely and back up again to get it
working.
They may get the Radio sorted out yet.
