With the Music Information Screen plugin, it would, though.
Not even the fantastic Music Information Screen plugin transform a mono screen

But maybe it only works this way because the RC is low on battery, IDK.
I got it with my second hand Boom.
Quite possibly.
I have a Touch and Boom in opposite corners in a medium sized room (Touch
acting as a controller for the Boom). I found that no matter where I pointed

Do you have an alarm timeout configured, or is the timeout=0. This can be
configured in SBS, not sure about MySB as I don't use that service.
I'm thinking that if the timeout isn't 0, that it might cause the audio to stop
thinking that an alarm had previously been started. If it is 0, it
2. No autoplay after pressing the power button
I disagree that it should autoplay; I have many other devices that don't resume
when I turn them back on, but do resume if I hit play.
e.g. DVD player, Video Player, Sky+, iPod.
However, I think there's an option (in local SBS) to change the
3. Font size of the clock in the alarm window
For me this is still a bug or lets say false spec because if you cannot
read the clock from 1m away it is useless to display it.
I've said before, but not repeated myself for some time, so here goes again ;-)
Many people have different views on what
That sounds good; what has to be done to request this?
I thought I already had a bug on having an alarm screensaver mode, but can't
find it via search. Perhaps it was closed, or I had added it as a comment to
another bug?
Anyway, rather than raise another one, for now I added it as a comment
Thanks, Phil; I've added a comment as you suggested, and CCd myself on
all three of the bugs.
The most important thing is to vote for the bug(s). This makes it more likely
to be implemented.

All of these functions should be built into the radio firmware.
Or rather the artwork resizing function shouldn't be controlled by the knob at
all. It feels unexpected and laggy to me. i.e. a slow rotation of knob does
nothing; a fast rotation of the knob changes the artwork size but feels
The alarm was meant to be an alarm (that has to be acknowlegded) and
that one could use this feature as a scheduler (by setting an invalid

It was no accident that there wasn't a confirmation popup dialog that got in

Having disliked the Boom knob=control volume functionality, I was very happy to
see a dedicated volume control on the Radio, so the navigation knob could now
be used solely to navigate and control the player.
But no, after some seconds, the knob changes to control the artwork display

And to complete my dislike of player knobs, I've just discovered that the
functionality of the Transporter knob is now broken. If I am playing a track,
and leave the player untouched for 30 secs for the MIS screensaver to display,
and then try to rotate the knob to see the next song in the
That feels like a bug.
It feels very strange if simply rotating the knob is supposed to change
currently playing song.
Yes, I raised a bug report.

Any default functionality will never please everyone. Ex: If Boom's
knob = volume were something else, inevitably some would say why can't
knob be volume instead of x?
Undoubtedly so.
What annoys me more than anything, is that Boom, Radio and Transporter all have
knobs on the front panel,
As far as I remember logitech said back then they'd implement to opt
out by holding the back key a bit longer (if a local SB-Server was
present).
If it doesn't work this way then either they forgot to implement this
or changed their mind again.
If it is implemented, it isn't publicised. There's
Sadly and surprisingly I counldn't do that because I found that the

to set up a SBRadio connected to a SBServer on a pc, howe should I do

but before I upgrade to a beta-version I would like to know if it is
necessary to configure anything on the radio to get to the option
alarm-timeout=0
The option is only available in the WebUI settings, and unfortunately is a
property that applies to all alarms on the player, rather than
I tried the latest state of implementation of the Radio alarm functionality.
Observations:
1. When alarm fires and window pops up, there is no indication that the *only*
way to continue playing music without the alarm is to press - back button.
I can see why there have been numerous posts
I'm glad to see that Alarm Timeout=0 didn't show the alarm popup dialog and
just starts music.
However, it's a bit messed up. When I tried to stop music playback, eg. press
power button, it then fired the backup alarm, which cleared the current
playlist.
I then also got the Radio stuck on an

Are we talking about the latest 7.4.2 ? or 7.5 ? I've yet to upgrade
from 7.4.1 so I'm interested in whether the numerous threads on alarm
issues are getting any attention.
I am testing with 7.5/trunk.
I've said
1. When I snooze an alarm, it stops music playback, but when I Stop Alarm, it
pauses music playback! Shouldn't it be the other way round, or both options
do the same (both options pause, or both options stop).
Also, if an auto alarm timeout occurs, music is paused (equivalent to Stop

If you have a popup it is easy: whatever (controllable) means there are
to close the popup - the the audio checking can be turned off.
Types of events that should close the popup dialog are the same events that
should stop the alarm (whether there's a dialog or not). What about remote
control
... 3rd party integration would also allow a mode, where no popup
comes.
And thus navigation knob doesn't do snooze, I assume (hope).
There is just one downside with such a mode: if the radio is put
instantly into 'now playing' the fallback mechanism are disabled
instantly.
Strange that the
So whatever logitech does it won't fit ... this gap can only be closed
by 3rd party devs.
Or a few simple alarm settings.
A screensaver for Alarm Display Mode is an easy concept for new users to
understand. Obviously the alarm popup functionality that we have now makes for
a good default, but
1. Alarm clock user (90% I would guess).
2. Start playing music at 'x' time and play like normal with a normal
screen, no timeout, etc. This I would think could be done through an
applet.
Logitech needs to focus on use case number ONE.
I agree that case 1 is important. But, I also think that
Returning to the suggestions in this chain, there is perhaps one other
way to keep as many people happy as possible. To snooze, you could press
(*and hold*) the main dial. That way you still can use the dial for
normal navigation or to invoke snooze.
Press and hold main knob usually brings up the
Yesterday, the alarm went off. I pressed the wheel to snooze (set to 10
mins) and woke up an hour later because the snooze hadn't fired.
If the need to get up is important, then don't snooze. If you want 10 mins
extra, then set the alarm 10 mins later!
But I agree - push knob for snooze, if the
Most alarm clocks show the time as it always appears when an alarm goes
off (and there is a separate snooze button).
And no alarm clocks have a pop-up dialog offering a stop alarm option!
Perhaps the screen when an alarm fires should be the normal (or near to
normal) clock screen (as chosen by
So the answer is -- have an option in the menus (or better yet in the
alarm settings) to enable or disable snooze feature (just like you can
enable or disable repeat or one time alarm). If snooze is enabled, you
get the popup menu. If you don't enable snooze, you get the typical now

I've got my radio set-up so that in all conditions it reverts to the

on in the morning, the screen shows a very small digital time and the

Has anyone figured out a way to rate a song directly from the Now

scroll down to ratings and execute a series of clicks to finish rating a

That's the only way I think it can be done on the Radio device using the front

I think you should see this (when the alarm fires) -- perhaps there is a
setting that needs to be changed:
That wouldn't be particularly useful.
Okay, nice to see what the time is, and some people would like to be able to
snooze or turn off alarm, but the screen doesn't show what is playing.
However, my understanding is that an internet connection
is *not* needed for setup and playback of local music, if you have a
local instance of Squeezecenter running.
I don't think that's the case, or if so, it's certainly not obvious.
It was said that setup should be quick to get the user to
And also if an existing squeezeboxserver 7.4 with all credentials for
network use, like my own is present. It is completely unnecessary and
tedious to setup trough the device, it could just auto register to

I agree. Setup could attempt to connect to a local Squeezebox
