Well, I went to CompUSA yesterday to buy a NIC, and much to
my surprise (NOT!) every single one of them were plug and pray.
Anyone know how to set up P-N-P ethernet card under Linux? I have
nine more days to get it to work before I have to return it. I'd
like to minimize my server's downtime.

I'm using RH5.0 on a Pentium, 48MB RAM using fvwm2 configured

I'm 90% converted over to Linux (and loving it).
Big problem - I (have to) use MS Access for school.
Is there a Linux DB comparable in flexibility and
ease of use? Big plus if it can read/write Access
DB files.

Anybody know _if_ this processor will run Linux,
and what kind of performance it might provide?

Hi,
Has anyone had trouble running X when not root. As a non root user I

Yes, I did. To cure it I had to delete some file (I can't remember
its name - fvwm and some numbers) in /tmp

At xterm, date command yields correct time. Time Machine and asclock

I would invite you to do the math: 115,200 baud with one start bit, one
stop bit and eight data bits (total of 10) means the computer has to
pump out 11,520 bytes per second to the serial port. I think if a 386

I printed to lpr many pictures from xv. All seemed to
go well, so I left the computer. The screen blanker
kicked in and printing stopped. When I returned, printing
resumed. It's like the computer missed me.
Question: Is this normal behavior for lpr?

I would like to customize the AfterStep look and feel configuration
files for fvwm2. I've played with them for hours, and have almost
everything setup. Last item to change is those stupid-looking

Here's the solution:
Wait two days. Rebuild the rpm database. Check
to see what is still installed (in this case it was
optprep). Remove it manually. Reinstall using the

No clue why it stopped.
