I have had missing interrupts when ripping an audio CD since I started

If I use kernel 2.4.21 and ide-scsi emulation the missing interrupts go
away.
I have only tried to extract cd-audio with my " 48X cd.

Thankfully, after configuring both the DVD-ROM and the CD-RW as IDE-SCSI
devices, any reliability and performance issues have disappeared.

After configuring the CD-ROM drive (hdc) to also use IDE-SCSI emulation

Let's try one more thing. Try to check the CD-Writing-HOWTO,

again. It has the list of modules you need to have loade
Unfortunately the ide-scsi module doesn't take any "ignore" arguments

After reading through the SCSI-2.4-HOWTO, I've learned that adding sg

I've just installed 2.4.0. It seems to be running fine, with the
exception of my IDE-SCSI CD-RW mounting. When I mount /mnt/cdrom, I get
the error 'mount: /dev/cdrom has wrong major or minor number'.

Add this to lilo.conf
append="hdx=ide-scsi" //where x is the drive letter of your cdrom
and add this to /etc/rc.d/rc.local

Is there some trick to making the default kernel that ships with 6.2 use
the ide-scsi emulator for cdroms without recompiling?
It seems to be it should be possible if one knew the right incantations to
put into /etc/conf.modules and /etc/lilo.conf.
Has anyone tried this?

Under Red Hat's kernel configuration, this is fairly easy. Ad
uld be easier if redhat 6.2
module loading was not apparently broken .. see other message ) :
- tell the ide-cd to ignore the drive to be scsi emulated :
options ide-cd ignore=hdx
- load ide-cd BEFORE loading ide-scsi . With redhat 6.2, don't try pre-install, it
does not work (at least not
You can access it with /dev/scdx where x=0-9
