I had the same problem last week. There is actually a 'installation
notes' download available with the download - I didn't see it when I
first downloaded it...
The trick is to set the permissions chmod, then start the file with
./filename...blah...rpm.bin

I did check that the file glib.h does exist in the /usr/include/glib-2.0
folder however I'll check if the devel package is installed.

My problem was that one of my harddrives was damaged. Did a low level
format on it from the BIOS, and found that nearly every other track was
bad. Switched it, and everything worked fine. Note that I got that error
message at the first package, so it was a bit different from your
situation. Anyway
I had a similar problem but mine kept failing at a different
package. All I did (after many hours of trying several dozen different
things) was change the RAM in the PC and all worked without any further
issue..might work for you?

A couple of shots in the dark: some RH7.2 installs worked only with "mem=64m"
on systems with 128m of memory because some of it was shared with the
graphics card. You might try "mem=32m"
At least one install problem was solved by disabling power management in the
bios.

While you can install 8.1.7 on 7.0, you cannot get a database to work
yet (glibc stuff). You will do better to install on 6.2 and you would
be MUCH better if you upgrade to at least 8.1.6. 8.1.5 is very buggy
and even under good circumstances does not run very good.

I had much the same problem with my 3c509 combo. I was trying to setup a
box to do ip forwarding, and had installed a 3c900 and a 3c509. The system
would recognize the '900 but not the '509. I tried just about every way
that I could think of to get the system to recognize the '509, but just

redhat site with your modem and install from that site. Of course you would
