Personaly I have the feeling that this is not something SA should do.
But hey I can be wrong :-)

Dirk,
I am running the Servers Alive Perfmon checks only across a LAN, not the
Internet.
If the "old" v4.1 used the same system as Perfmon (windows version) can you
explain why there is a difference in the result return via Servers Alive and
the result returned by the Windows Perfmon Application?
NAVCE definition updates show up in the application eventlog on both
workstations and servers, which the eventlog com check can query. Or you
could test for an update of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec
Shared\VirusDefs\definfo.dat. This dat file consists of three lines, in

Yes I meant servers, not clients. Although, I might check a client or two per

Yes.
For example, I monitor is Perfmon (MSExchangeIS,VM Largest Block Size,)
on my exchange servers and I use a 32MB threshold. SA alerts me when
the perfmon counter dips below that value and if it goes back above it.

From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Can the check values then be monitored through SA and set to respond to
threshold events? Also I'm not certain Server 2000 has an SNMP value for
memory, I seem to recall trying this a few years ago.

Did some reason on the site and most of the database access is done via 3rd
party layers like ADO/RDO or most of all ODBC. And for ODBC there is
already an add-on, that should also work (via odbc) towards an Interbase db.

Interbase is the database that used to ship with Delphi. It was freeware and
reasonably robust. At some point in the past Interbase developed a price tag
but Firebird appeared on the scene which was more or less the same thing,
only still free. Check it out here: http://firebird.sourceforge.net/

I am currently monitoring 'NT Perfmon, Memory, Pool Nonpaged Bytes' closely

I think there's a common API for recent AV products. That's how XP/SP2 knows
whether you have an AV product installed, and how up to date the signatures
are.
