100%.
Never have seen a pattern though, so I never have said anything. Like you we
just have a check on a secondary server to see when the last time SA ran on the
primary server.

depending on how stripped down it goes, a simple WinSock.dll

Since the IM part of SA seems to be continually under seige as the
protocols shift, would it make sense for that part of SA to be
"externalized" to a .dll or somesuch so that upgrading that piece of it
doesn't mean an upgrade to SA in it's whole. I envision a separate .dll

My thought for those sites that you can't see directly would be to place SA on
a machine there, perform all the checks, have that SA use HTML output to write
out it's status to a web page that's accessable by your SA server which then
inspects that web page for errors.

The answer immediately is that you use dependencies to make each PDU check
dependant on whether or not the Tower check is UP.
If this is what you want to do, full instructions are in the user guide.

The conversion script doesn't fire until AFTER the UP/DOWN comparison happens.
It is intended to convert the %e returned for output.
It sounds like you need to have both steps (get computer name and list of
users) in one script.
Are you looking for a specific user?
