A static measurement will give proper eyeline which in turn will
give you the right length. Set up to the ball will give you the
correct lie. Rolling the ball after all this w

From a few things I've read, it
oot usually helps. This was hammered out quite hurriedly, so any lapses
in spelling, grammar, or thought are the result of haste by two eyes that both
refuse to be dominant these days.

Hah! I agree: there's practically zero money in reshafts unless you get
full retail plus labor plus spining, freq-ing, weighting etc. All that
takes too much time.
But regrips? Easy money. Loft and lie? Easier money. I paid for my Scotland
machine in a couple weeks (sold it recently - sorry I did)
I remember that "perfectly flat" putting green. The cup was like a
giant drain, no matter where you hit it the ball would wind up in the
cup. lol.

Yes, I've seen it. It is a great start at addressing the problem. However,

John,
A topic close to my heart. The opinion of a lot of clubfitters is that
full-bore putter fitting (e.g., Edel) is not a money maker. You are
better off, as you are thinking, to just tweak a golfer's existing
putter (length, lie/loft, head/backweight). You

I'm sure in my pelz putting book (loaned to a worse putter than i) he had a laser device you attached to your putter to ensure you were aiming the putter where you wanted to go.
personally i just use the hit and hope method.

I do tend to aim to the right a bit with my irons and woods...I will

John,
Just to rule it out, I'd get someone to double-check your aim with the
putter, both at long and short distances. The cosmetics of the putter
can be *big* factors in how well you aim. This is the most common
problem I see with people I play with (golf that is).
