Just noticed that someone has written a mydoom deleter for POP mail
users. Reads the headers then remotely deletes without downloading
according to the poop. It's on Freshmeat.net. If you are on a slow link,
perhaps this software may help somewhat.

It's proving to be an icky problem. Funny thing is that Mozilla mail
handles multi-client OK but doesn't handle large imap folders well.

"At least the size of the RAM" used to be the rule with BSD 4.2 and
family, when a RAM page
wouldn't have been counted if it didn't have a page in the swap space
assigned to back it up,
today the swap is an extension of the RAM, not a shadow of i
binary or is it some other tasks?
The solution seems to currently be to cycle the whole dm session, which
we will try at lunch time.

We've been having a LOT of problems with gnome since going multi-user
thin-client so we might give KDE a go tomorrow and see how it feels as a
desktop.
It's nice to have the choice.

I need to do this as a certain dvb package insists I need at least
2.4.23 to run. If it sounds too hard to resolve possible dependency
issues, I'll change tack and try the back releases of the DVB s/w.

Sendmail doesn't appear to be trying to contact beast, the are
no log messages on beast from gambit (the firewall) apart
from my telnet 25 attempts.
Mail is working internally via beast.

We're
using FreeSWAN or BSD with isakmpd to
interface to the SonicWall, I'll have another bash at isakmpd on Linux in
the meantime. Hmm... somewhat more successful... not authenticating.
