I'm flying 2 Aspires (brought 3 of them) and a Shadow Lite for dead air. I'll
fly them at the Masters and next years team selection. I really like the
planes. The Aspire will likely be available in the near future (no promise) and
the Shadow is a real sleeper (a lot of plane for the buck). I've

This W/C is the most impressive contest I've ever seen. The Turkish club spared
no expense to make their mark: "tents" that are more like semi-permanent

I'm not sure mounting the 2.4 antenna on top of the 72 MHz collapsed Tx antenna
will save you much time. The actual 2.4 antenna can be mounted nearly anyway

I went to Turkey with Larry a few weeks ago and I liked everyone I met. Of
course, most of them were modelers and whats not to like about a model airplane

really made a positive impression. I look forward to going back this

I wanted to thank the TPG club of San Diego for hosting a contest to benefit
the US F3J Team this past Sunday ( I wish I could have attended). It was
originally scheduled to be hosted in Riverside by the Inland Soaring Society,
but
was postponed due to weather.

Hi Robert,
Installation is pretty simple, but ground range testing is important. Follow
the instructions. My tips below are for JR systems with aux receivers
(satelite receivers).
In a DLG with a CF fuselage, simply poke the antenna through the sides of the
fuselage. You mentioned Larry Jolly

If it's any consolation, I sold all my VHF receivers and burned those

I've been on 2.4 since September. No problems. Flew on 2.4 at the Visalia

Hi Mike,
The Supra and Onyx are totally different planes. If its just for California
conditions (AMA TD), the Onyx is fine. The Supra is a better plane if you're
going to demand some degree of performance (usually not required for Calif AMA
TD) and it comes at a price. If it were me, I'd seriou
The Magnum 12 was a big, old, lumbering 12-footer. The Grand Esprit was a
prettier plane. Never built one for myself because I liked my 12 foot Soarcraft
604 better. Of the big winged planes, the Legionair would have been a better
choice (just guessing since I never flew one). A year or so later
I think I have the plans laying around somewhere if that helps. My high
school part time job was building Hugh Stock's (Soarcraft president) show
planes in
the mid-70's, so I built a couple Magnum 12's.

Hi Tom
I haven't used a slider for camber control in over 10 years (since the
Airtronics Vision). For a given angle of attack there is only one flap setting
that will result in minimum drag, be it positive camber for high AOA or negative
camber (reflex) for lower AOA's.

To clear up another misunderstanding: L/D (and the proper speed) are in the
operations manual of every powered (prop and jet) aircraft. It does not need
to be calculated by an "experienced glider pilot". All jet airliner flights
end in a 100 mile glide (interrupted only by ATC level offs), so
Jets can and do soar. Every jet (airliner) flight usually ends in a 100 mile
power off glide, often deploying spoilers just to get the thing down. The
DC-10 has an L/D of nearly 15 to 1, better than a lot of model gliders. Of
course max L/D occurs at around 220 kts (varies with weight for a giv
