I think Kurt Z. figired it out It's silkspan and its painted with Hobby-Poxy. That's why lacquer thinner removes a little of the paint but does nothing to soften it. Although it does come off the bamboo rather nicely So I guess I'm going to have to use the two 20 year old cuties
