That's what I thought and "in my mind" why using "Music Folder" is
significantly slower than
I have certainly used browse by folder to access new music - before the
scan has run.
Playing it adds it to the library so can avoid doing a scan - although
there are some limitations I think (for example - am not sure that it
processes a .cue file that indexes into a big MP3 file).

Folder" to browse to that new album automatically adds it to the LMS
database without needing to do a scan.
If you use "Discs & Folders" to browse to folders that LMS doesn't scan,

Curious about this:
When I add a new CD, and before a rescan, I use "browse by folder".
It's been my experience that Browse By Folder is based on the scanned
library because it does not do a "read" of the file system when it's used,
but simply offers a different 'view' of the scanned libra

I know I have said this before but I am still only using a 512M RPi1B
for LMS and was originally using the original 256M RPi1B.
Why? Because I want to test the "low ball" solution. I use a "standard"
pCP/LMS install and do regular insitu upgrades.

piCorePlayer uses piCore OS, a version of TinyCore for the Raspberry
Pi.
Raspbian is the official OS for the Raspberry Pi.
Everything is on your SD card, so buy a couple and you will be able to
swap quickly between different OS.

The A+ does not have built-in ethernet - so you would have to price in

has a cable connection to the router, as does the NAS, and the whole
ensemble is tucked away upstairs. All my players connect via WiFi.
I would generally recommend connecting the Pi that's running LMS to the

old, no longer Windows "compatible" PC into some kind of LMS server.
Well - after doing some tests, my computer savvy son tells I can forget
about the PC. I it dead. It won't even boot from a Linux USB flash
