I think this comes down to a combination of things:
1. User education. People need to be told to double-check what they
are importing, and to also slow down on their imports. Using
bulk_upload.py might be okay in the middle of Nunavut where *nothing*
exists, but it's a poor choice for any place
I may be making the 2 hour trip from my home in Chilliwack into

factors though, so no guarantees.

The natural=island tag that Daniel is referring to used to be applied
to the way of the island. This is the old way of doing things
(pre-Canvec 7). I think the natural=land tag that Samuel is referring
to is a single node at the centre of the island (Canvec 7).

I think it should be pointed out that vreimer hasn't made any edits since
the blocking, and this buggering up was done beforehand (Feb 13, 2010 to be
exact). I just think it's worth noting that this Lesser Slave Lake issue is
not about vreimer continuing to make poor editing decisions post-block.
Found another example near Valemount, BC, where NRN has a road called
Blackman Road (east of a certain road) and Lheureux (west of certain road).
Bing has called the road Chevreux. vreimer got it correct, meaning he's not
copying Bing either. It's all so mysterious

position is off, other places it's fine. It looks like he actually skipped a
major road because of this position confusion (it wouldn't fit in where it

Just finished up import of NRN tile 103. This includes Kitimat, Terrace, the
aforementioned Stewart, Prince Rupert, and the Queen Charlotte Islands/Haida
Gwaii (rename will happen mid-2010). Bounding box is:

Working on NRN import on BC/Alaska border, in the town of Stewart, and it
looks like there is a mismatch in positions between TIGER and NRN. Take a
look at Highway 37A as it crosses the border in [1]. See that there is no
road to connect to in Alaska. Now take a look at how Google maps has it in
