IMHO, if this is NOT a bug in my JDBC driver, then it probably really is a
problem with Tomcat -- sockets simply shouldn't be left in CLOSE_WAIT by an

f you have buggy Java classes, this should not cause a good JVM to

When starting rmiregistry from within Tomcat 4 I am unable to bind to
anything from my web applications. rmiregistry starts just fine, but I

that fact, and return to it later (or beg for help to fix it once you get
everything else working). To do that, just have TC ignore whatever jvmroute
is sent over. Everything but load-balancing should still work just fine.

This specific bug has been fixed in 3.2.2, and the relevant function
(doRead()) has been extensively cleaned up. The 3.2.2 support for ajp13 is
much, much better than in 3.2.1.

he is setting it up so that the mod_jk plugin will detect that TC has died,
and will attempt to open new connections.

release, some are working towards getting 3.2.2 out (go Marc!), and some are
working on 4.x. There is some overlap, but I do not think it is important
that everyone work on every branch.

too busy to do that Dan, so I'm just running diff -u for my fixes based on

I'm sorry if I'm belaboring this -- I don't think this instance is a
particularly big deal, but I do think it's an important area to be careful

I think you're right about not trying to clean out the cache of endpoints.
Too much work and not really necessary.
I'd be happy to check your code, but I don't think I've seen it -- did you
submit it to the list (I may have missed a few messages to the list)?
