This is what I want to do when I get a Squeezebox...
1. Use an old PC to run the Squeezebox server.
2. Buy a large external HD to rip CDs to.
3. Also be able to stream Internet radio stations (I have wireless).
4. Play all of the above through my receiver.
Can I do that?

I think Kal's right. You also might want to consider the Vortexbox

Your choice. You can use the Squeezebox's analog outputs to connect to
the Aux ports on your receiver. Or you can use the Squeezebox's digital
outputs to

Correct - use of an outboard DAC is optional. Depending on the model of

Fellow Touch users,
Stange problem, when I insert a USB stick into the Touch, I have no

Do you have Squeezebox Server (TinySBS) running on the Touch? As I
recall it isn't running by default, to save resources. So I would
select the first item and make sure it is running. Then it will take a
little while (or a long while) to scan USB stick for tracks to put in
its database.

You won't be able to play the music right away. You need to start the
Touch's internal Squeezebox Server (SBS), which I think is what you are
referring to as option 1. This starts the SBS which first needs to scan
audio files on your USB drive to build the music library. Depending on

For Mac users out there: I use Tag a pretty good tag editor that works
with FLACs. You can get it from sbooth.org. They also have a Max app
which is a nice CD ripper / format convertor.

Is this possible with the Touch?
Out the box, no.

Yet... being able to stream audio to other areas is one of the real
