since I updated the squeezebox server to v7.5.3, my squeezebox touch
does not display the correct current track : after the first track has
been played,it's always the previous track to the one being played that
is displayed (for example, when track 3 is playing, track 2 is

DLNA works along the same principle as Squeezeboxes: you have a server
on some device with plenty of storage (PC, NAS, etc.) where your music
library is, and you have a client that gets tracks from the server to
play to the listener.
Note that DLNA supports audio, video and image files, SB does

That is what I was concerned about. The iTunes thing. So the only album
art I could use is stored in that iTunes cover art folder? Do I need to
copy it to the artist or album folder then?
If nothow in the world do I get the album art to show whan I am
using iTunes?

The odd thing is some of the artwork shows up. I was doing a random
play last night and saw that awful grey CD image for most of the night
and then a song from Hairspray came on and the cover art was there.
Anyone know why? Does iTunes just like musicals? :D

Thanks for your basic (my level) advice above. I think we may be
getting closer to pinning down what the problem might be (half the
battle :-) ), but I'm not sure how I got there or how I get to where I
should be - hopefully it will give you a clue.

I did read somewhere that I could imbed the images in the album folder
as a cover.jpg file and the Squeezebox would find them.
Hopefully that is true.
Either way, it will be an arduous task. Close to 1K albums to deal
with.

To embed art in iTunes is easy. First thing is to NOT let iTunes
download automatically.
Otherwise go to the album you want to embed art for and do the
following:
Easiest is to select all songs from album, then right click and Get
Info, yes, and then paste the art into the artwork window and

What if I have already let iTunes grab some cover art? Should I just
delete that folder and start from scratch or grab the cover art from
there?

No if iTunes already has downloaded some art it's easy..
Just copy that art into the multi-change like I told you before. In
iTunes 10 you'll need to Get Info on one of the tracks of the album, go
to Artwork Tab and copy the image, then close. Then go thru the steps I
told you before.

Itunes keeps art NOT in the artist or album folder but in its own odd
database folders that don't make any sense to the user (but they do
make sense to itunes program). I've found the best approach is to have
those same album art items EMBEDDED in each track. You can do this
manually or

I'm pretty sure there is a way to change the port without editing the
prefs file directly, but I don't have SBS in front of me to check
exactly where it is. Did you stop the SBS service completely before
editing the prefs file? If not, that's why your edit didn't stick.

I'm leaning towards getting the SB as it will work with my current
receiver. That will give me more time to look at, audition, etc.

receiver does DLNA I can do a comparison and if I like it well enough I

There are many folks that have reported selling their
Since the Touch upgraded to 7.5.3 (can't remember doing it) I am missing
album art when my MP3 collection (I have about 1300 mp3 songs on a
attached USB stick)is playing. Not completely though; about 3 in every
10 songs have no album art displayed. Never had those problems before.
Actually the
AVR/receiver networking is very basic and simplistic, nothing even close
to the capabilities of a dedicated Network Music Player like a SB Touch.

As suggested, once you get your Touch, hook up both the digital coax
and the L/R analog outs to two different inputs in your AVR, like DVD
and CD.
Try hitting the refresh button on your browser, sometimes SBS Settings
or Web UI do not load correctly at first without a refresh.
But the other problem may be that your Control Panel is trying to
connect to Settings of an SBS instance that is not currently running or
not available.
This is why
I'm glad it worked for you, but I hardly think telling people to
reinstall their OS is a viable fix for the average user.
If old programs and registry dead ends are causing such issues I'd
suggest a good registry temp garbage file cleaner from several free
sources.

I suppose if you had some DNS blocking issue from an install years
prior I suppose such cleaners may not have found that and removed/fixed
it. I dunno.
