Wow SBGK - I've been looking at your blog - and its very interesting.
For those of you who have replied about not bothering with tweaks take a

results.
Of course you need a resolving system to appreciate the tweaks no doubt
Hi, I have this morning contacted customer support, and they could not

advise they agreed to send out a new Touch. So a big thank you to all

Hi,
Would this work with the Arcam rWave? Would be very interesting as a
living room ambient audio solution The Touch could sit near the sofa for
the whole family to use whilst wirelessly playing to an Arcam rCube.
It seems that it is impossible to switch, on LST, between listening to
PC based music via LMS and internet radio.
The method to get from streaming music off an HD to listening to radio
is (a) turn off the server (or /PC/NAS) (b) turn off LST (c) turn LST
back on.
There's no switch for going
Just received a 24/192 wav recording on disc from Soundkeeper
Recordings. Copied it to my HD and attempted to play it back on the
Touch. Plays ok but it's in slow motion! anyone come across similar and

I'm new to LST as my last two threads show.
Setting up the LST was a nightmare of frustration repeated attempts to
get it to do what was wanted plus workrounds I discovered to make it do
simple things the software won't. Just the simple stuff, no clever
plugins or w.h.y.

If by 'web' you mean the internet, then
1. mysb.com is on the web
2. LMS is on your local pc (if you installed it)

Is there any likelihood of LST software being modified to play mp4
audio?
It would be a boon and competitors such as SONOS already provide it.

Useful info, Gary.
Looks like there's no point in using USB on the LST.

Not GUI, just UI. IOW the user experience is not simple, intuitive or
helpful especially on the LST (LMS MySB are a bit better I must

The software is typical open source: developed by a bunch of geeks with
little or no top down design and no thought for useability. as a couple

I don't use a Touch, but I do use two Squeezebox Radios and a Squeezebox
Classic. On the Classic, there's a menu item entitled mysqueezebox.com
which switches the Squeezebox from LMS to the web service. LMS is still
running throughout, and switching between the two sources is pretty
easy.

I have no idea about a release date - ask logitech... You can install
the beta of 7.8 server and this will get 7.8 firmware which I believe
will work now. But if you prefer to only use release software then you
will need
Well I'm not an IT pro, but there is no need to switch at all if your
local LMS server is still running. Everything that is available under
mysb.com is also available through LMS. You want internet radio? Go
through the internet radio menu. You want a Favorite? Go through the
Favorites menu.

I believe the gotcha will be to actually configure the MySB account in
the server's web interface under Settings-gt;MySqueezebox.com.
If that's set correctly the problem is probably one of the server losing
contact to MySB, here a server restart usually helps.
Seems to be quite a lot of information on how to set up a Touch over at
the Logitech website. Mind you, I've always found Squeezeboxes and LMS
(in its various releases) quite easy to set up on Linux systems,
including a QNAP NAS.
What specific problems have you experienced? I saw your posting

It is the potentially worst way to use it. That said, my brother uses a

has about 50,000 mp3 files on about a 4 year old 1TB USB

Do you have native flac playback disabled on the filetypes setting

yes, the TOUCH already natively plays itunes purchased (or ripped with
itunes) files. But I think the ones *without* DRM are m4a rather than
m4p (which are DRM protected). I'm not sure what a mp4

Ok, that's clearer now, since *.m4a files are MP4 audio (MP4 being a

audio in the *.mp4 files is encoded in something that SB

Why? You should be able to transfer files over the network with the

At this point I think you need the architectural model of the squeezebox

There are three components in a squeezebox system: player, server and
