My first thought is for you to check the IP address used by the Touch.
Is it in the same range as the rest of your subnet?
Yes.All 192.168.0.* (but set statically in the router).
Second, when you open LMS and go to Settings, then the Player tab,
does the Touch show up there?
Hi teddonald,
I'm also a rookie but what I think they are triyng to say is that if you
stop running the LMS (the inner LMS in your squeezebox touch) before
ejecting the usb hdd, the libary will be maintained and the SB will only
scan new added files in the hdd the next time you connect it back
Is there any need for me a invest in a SBT when instead I could invest
in a Synology NAS which has Logitech Media Server built in.
I have a USB DAC, all I would need to do is directly connect my USB DAC
to the Synology NAS and remotely control my music library with a smart
phone.
Am I right in
LMS is not a player, it's a server. You need something like Squeezeslave
and a soundcard if you don't want a SB Touch.

Actually, you turn out to be in the right area.
My router tells me that the device is currently connected and IP address
is 192.168.0.11, and the Touch connects fine to my squeezebox.com.
But in the SB info option of Settings, Advanced, it claims an IP address
of 2.96...
And that seems to be

Squeezeslave can support USB DACs on some platforms but before you
should check with Ralphy whether it will support non 44.1kHz rates as
otherwise resampling
Sorry, of course, LMS is the server part only. However 'Audio Station'
is built into the NAS - would that be a good alternative music streaming
application so that I could still plug the DAC directly into the USB
port of the Synology NAS?
Actually it looks like you can plug a USB DAC directly into their
DiskStation when using Audio Station as a media player using their USB
DAC as an example seen from this link:

Hopefully being Linux it will work with my USB DAC

the delay reported by amazon on products rarely has anything to do
with actual availability of inventory.
It's two different things. I'm confident you will somehow be able to get
music from your Synology to your usb dac, but it won't be a Squeezebox
experience. The interface with iPeng and all the available plugins are
what make Squeezebox a great experience. If you just want a simple audio
player

Dumb question, but you indicated the Touch has a static address, but I'm
not sure what you mean by in the router. Static addresses are set in
the device in question. What happens when you set the static address in
the Touch itself? Does it not stick?
Also keep in mind that electronics, when
What a terrible verification.
Anyway.
Bought touch. Updated software. Installed EDO. Choose USB out to classe
cp 800 (pre amp with built in dac). Worked directly. Classe shows Hz
always good.
Anymore to say?

misstl, I believe you are technically correct about static addresses.
But my router (I think this is not uncommon) allows me to reserve a
specific address for a specific device, which has the same effect as
setting the address in the device itself.
I will call Logitech at some point, but people

dbPowerAmp is an excellent program and offers many ways to customize how
songs are tagged. In addition to dbPowerAmp I would recommend the free

While LMS uses very basic tags, as outlined by Osamede in the
garym and pall freeman, I won't disagree with you, you are probably both

As noted, if I reset to factory default and start again, I have no
problem connecting to ethernet, and (under ethernet info) I get the
address and subnet mask expected

It may have no relevance at all, but it eliminates a line of enquiry for
someone else who's trying to understand what's going on.
Yesterday I got a new Touch in and tried a number of things to try and
get it setup without connecting to mysb.com. No luck. The intial screen
that tries to connect to mysb.com cannot be over-ridden with the
swipe. I tried putting the firmware on a USB stick, that made no
difference. I tried

Just to rule out whether it is caused by firewall, are you double sure

To test it, turn off both the incoming AND outgoing firewall AT ONCE on

I actually had just a (maybe similar) problem. In my case it was

No, I don't know about the Radio, but my guess it uses same UDP ports.
Here is another thread but it's about Duet:
3483 udp should be enough to make it work for the autodiscovery , note

I connected HRT MS II+ DAC directly to the touch without the hub. The

Will there be a fix from Logitech or other 3rd party to deal with this

1. It helps ease our paranoia.
3. It may be on by default.
3. An outgoing firewall can be annoying, but is also useful.
4. No-one has actually claimed to have
