Sorry for re-activating the thread, but:
I'm on my controller with SSH and searching the /mnt/mmc directory.
It's not there. Only /mnt/storage with etc, root and usr is there. No
mmc, even not in subdirs. Am i blind or has something changed to
directory structure in the meanwhile?

Upgrade prompt on the player or on LMS?
Switching the player to MySB will only offer the update to the player,
not LMS.
If you downgrade

On the player.
Player is on 7.7.1, server is on 7.61.
I would liek to downgrade the controller zu 7.6.1. But how?
SW-Update MenĂ¼ on the controller only states that the Version 7.7.1
is actual. No chance for downgrade there...

Thanks a lot for the tips, folks... I managed to make it work!
After figuring out that the SetupFirmwareUpgrade applet was
corrupted/crippled in the factory image (either intentionally or
unintentionally - but I would think it's the former if this was indeed
a beta test version of the player), I
Yes, I confirm the default firmware in the Touch is a beta version! I
can see comments and todo's/bug ID's all over the code.
By the way, I am not able to find the hardware version displayed
anywhere in the Diagnostics menu or About.. menu. But I found the
following in the log. Does it say

Extremely technical info I've found in the wiki.
It's way over my head, potentially dangerous to use,
you migth find new ways of brick it even more:
Exactly. That's what I thought too... this is some sort of a special
unit. I doubt whether it's a mockup unit though, because the radio is
fully functional, it has the look and finish of a commercial unit,
complete with all the serial numbers, etc underneath.
In fact I did contact Logitech
What is the exact model #? It may indeed be a beta or store unit unit
with a different firmware chip that has been locked to that particular
firmware, they did that for the SB3/Classic. Also the Radio had beta
units originally that had to be returned destroyed for the same
reason. Using the
The M/N is X-RC4, and P/N is 830-40. Does it say anything?
Actually I did connect the Touch to www.mysqueezebox.com and
successfully downloaded apps such as Tunein Radio and Pandora, and they
are all working. But I didn't get any prompt for upgrading firmware when
I did so.
Is it possible
yes you can , but I cant remeber the path on the old interface .
Now you have 2 ways to do it in current software.

Matches my Touch info so I'd guess you have a regular production unit.
Try forcing the update when on MySB.com as Mnyb suggests.

That's definitely a beta firmware version. The firmware that shipped to
the factory on the first production units was r5969. As I recall, r5969
itself was very raw and Logitech knew that it couldn't be used for much,
but its ability to upgrade itself over the network was well-tested. The
first
Going back and looking at the Fab4 beta forum, the timeline looks
something like this:
Dec 2008/Jan 2008: First beta units were shipped to testers.
May 2, 2009: Firmware r5595
May 27, 2009: Logitech began shipping revised Touch models to beta
testers and collecting the older 'PB1' units.
What are you naming the firmware file that you place on the USB device?
It needs to be named 'fab4.bin'.

Make sure it is the fab4* something fw file you use not the jive*

In the fw directory you have.

Hi,
Is there a way to update the firmware of SB Touch from the shell prompt
using SSH? I know it's probably a strange question, but here's my long
story:
I bought a pre-owned Touch from someone few days ago, and I've been
trying to set it up ever since. I have spent countless hours reading
I understood you hve to hold the reset button for at least 5 secs to get
the factory reset. Have you done that?

Castalla - yes, I have done that.. but it doesn't solve my problem. In
fact it successfully resets the fw to the factory version, which
seems to be a very old one (see the images in my first post). The
factory fw version says 7.4-r5588, but I thought I read
It's a beta unit. It was developed when 7.4 was the current sofware, so
a modified 7.4 was used as server.
Or it's some kind of store mockup, with some demo fw .
In either case not intended to be resold ?
You could contact logitech support and ask them what they think and
provide it's mac
