Anyway, I heard about that new Ubuntu variant we're debuting for 8.04,
Gobuntu - that so-called 100% free Ubuntu variant. I've actually
already got some possible ideas for how we could do the artwork for this

I'm going to try and investigate this. Version 2.0 was based off Dapper,
and it probably has that VGA patch in it too (limiting it to 16 colors).

Okay, most of the artwork right now is just inherited from Ubuntu

could get it down to 14 colors, but I can easily edit the logo placement
with the normal bitmap tools).

icons as well, but because of problems related to disk space on
the install CD's, it had to use Tango instead. But, Tango just seems to
go better with the fresh look of Blubuntu.

notice that those icons originated from a version of Red Hat Linux
released in 2002, that's when Bluecurve (and Gnome 2.0) debuted. Back
then we didn't have fancy Metacity themes, Clearlooks, or XGL and
related! Industrial and Bluecurve were the 2 big ones back then...

still kinda liked it when Tropic used gFlat, looked pretty interesting.

From what I hear, it's the coolest thing ever! It's a composite
manager, and it even can be paired up with its dedicated window manager
called Compiz, which can add Vista like effects and more to your Ubuntu
Linux system!

Gfxboot previously when it got added to Ubuntu reused the Usplash
artwork)!
I think maybe you should see if you can get a 6.06.1 released so we can
squeeze in some bug fixes and maybe update the Gfxboot theme on the

If you refer to the new orange arrows instead of green, he's already
