By the way, for the last year or so I have been running my laptop with a PCMCIA wireless card (BT Voyager 1020) because the onboard wireless didn't work. Miraculously one day recently I clicked on the update buttons and the onboard now does! Good old Gutsy! BT Voyager 1020 is now merrily sitting

I like Ubuntu, I think it is the best distro and the highest quality. I would also like to see the profile of Ubuntu raised in the market place but feel there are some issues in Ubuntu that need addressing. I have attended night school to learn Ubuntu basics but still cannot get my wireless car

Hey Sean Have you tried installing xserver-xgl? Launch Synaptic Package Manager (System ->> Administration) and install xserver-xgl. Now restart Xorg (ctrl+shift+backspace) and try to enable desktop effects through appearance. This has worked for both my grandmother and my father. Jai On 10/29/
