If you're using GNU/Linux you can try searching and deleting a hidden
file, usually called "-lock name-of-file.odt". This is the file is
telling to openoffice there's a corrupted file to recover.

I found a serious problem of compatibility between MS Word 97 and OOo
2.0 fr with indentation of paragraph (with bulleted list). I describe.
Under MS Word 97, I wrote a indented bulleted list in a new paragraph,
this after lot of corrections (I don't know if it's important...).
