Newer version of courier-imap will no longer be able to write the IPs
into the relay table. This is because all authentication has now been
moved out of courier (and sqwebmail) and into the courier-authlib
package. As has always been the case, authdaemon doesn't support POP

It used here to allow webmail access from localhost.

I've been trying to configure Courier-IMAP to work with authvchkpw
of vpopmail on OpenBSD platform but to no success.
I've installed Courier-IMAP into /usr/local/courier-imap (using
gmake on *BSD systems)
My imapd config file:
ADDRESS=127.0.0.1
PORT=143
Check if you have other imap daemons running on your server.
Try telnetting to 127.0.0.1 port 143. If you receive a reply
then you have a daemon using port 143.

I was happily using vpopmail 5.2.1 and qmailadmin. Everything was fine.
However, our clients demanded some form of webmail access, so after trying a
few packages, I settled for SquirrelMail (PHP pages that we could set to our
needs). SquirrelMail requires an IMAP server for authentication

--without-authdaemon --with-authvchkpw

Works for me in 1.6.0.
With the standard distribution, it won't work with authdaemond.
I've patched mine to allow it to work with that.
I don't see any problem if you use the raw authvchkpw way.

I am attaching also the strace from the authdaemond.plain as I think that it
could be useful.
Simply compile Courier-IMAP --without-authdaemon, and it will work fine.
