content in many cases) with building collections that will be of value

is not a good basis for an argument re: DMCA, Fair Use, etc.

We only replace DVD cases when they're not standard. So for us,
ironically enough, the eco-friendly packaging is probably the least
eco-friendly, since we discard and replace those with typical dvd cases
that adequately protect the material.

media for two years now, and haven't yet lost any materials. (Only
replacements we've had to do were for DVDs that were packed improperly
and damaged in shipping.)

examples. Someone who is studying film is much better
served by the Blu-ray format. I think it's important to remember that
it's not just a matter of preference for some -- may not be crucial for
most, but for some it is.

Just noticed that the documentary in question is available from
Filmakers Library for educational purchase, but I'm still curious to
hear if anyone knows of other docs also addressing this subject.

implying that those of us who purchase DVDs w/o expensive PPR rights
when they are NOT needed by those we serve are somehow lacking in this
quality --I think that is unfair and problematic.

models of DVD players, and I'm sure our patrons would have just as many
problems as we have had with them.)
