not have any physical display at all) and it works fine for me.
Check the log files of SMC to see if it did start at all, and if not, if
there are any errors.

which blocks access to all ports except a few well-known services like ssh
and http and something like this...
You need to find it in your system and deactivate it, or at least open the

Is the VNC service set up to start automatically when the computer starts?
If no, you have to restart the service manually after the computer has
rebooted.

possibility to display an application window remotely (this is what X does
by itself in Unix-like systems)
