I am in the process to get a VNC connection running; I am almost there with
this exception: the connection breaks down after a while with the above message.
The way I sat this up is:
- the watched after PC has a VNC Server going with invoking the Add Client

- the supporting PC
VNC connection to the native console

sessions dropped on xinetd connections.
I have already upgrade the client to vnc-4.1.2-1 in case the disparity
in versions contributed to the event.

The trick is quite simple:
Make a fullscreen layered window and desactivate the layered capturing.

Hi Lorin,
No, there's no way to do that at present. Several VNC-based projects do try
to provide such functionality, but do so by repeatedly engaging monitor
power-saving, which means the graphics card switching on and off repeatedly
while the syste
you run VNC on linux in "user" mode.

Good luck...
Whatever the reason, the csh does seem to solve the problem for me at

It could be that the processes are sending a request to go in the

Launching the vncserver from the csh seems to work, and the apps appear

I already tried that. Still have same problem when log out
occurs...apps die .
Even tried "nohup" inside xstartup file in front of xterm, vncconfig
lines to see if that made a difference.it did not.
In Solaris, nohup does not insulate the command from the SIGTERM
/usr/bin/nohup
Try preceding the command with "nohup". For example, "nohup vncserver :1"
Then it should be unaffected when you log out.

Which OS are you running? I am on Solaris 2.7, Ultra 10 Sparcstation,
running the "free" vncserver downloaded from the RealVNC site ( V

Let's say I start the vncserver from an initial telnet session.
