Hi Rick, iMovie is "Editing" software & iDVD is "Authoring" software. You import your Video from your Camera into iMovie and you do your Editing of the footage in iMovie When you are happy with your Edited Movies you use iDVD to do the Authoring of (Produce) a DVD.
