The changes are not complicated -- all I had to do was to double-quote
the command passed to ${posixshell}. For example:
$ diff t.mknod-orig t.mknod
6c6
< ${posixshell} -c 'mknod hda3 b 3 1; ls -l hda3' | grep "^b"
---
> ${posixshell} -c '"mknod hda3 b 3 1; ls -l hda3"' | grep "^b"
That did the trick.
