We decided to pack it up and moved there full time this summer. My son is 12 and in 7th grade and we thought we'd expose him to small town life. Some wise person in the school district (Glen Lake) applied for govt. impact funding after it dawned on them that the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore grabbed a bunch of property in the school district back in the 70's . They get something like 2 million out of a 9 million budget forever. His new school is like a small private school , K-12 with about 800 kids total and 15-20 kids per class (about 1,200 in 5-6 grade, 35+ per class in our old district) and lots of money so everyone (including the teachers) are happy. As you can see from the pictures the area is beautiful. We're about 10 minutes from Lake Michigan and we're on a small inland lake. We're about 20 min. NW of Traverse City. Leelanau County is the "little finger" as you look at the mitton. Lots of wineries, lakes, agriculture. Really nice setup. John
