I think this has been beat to death, but one more kick won't hurt. There seems to be a lot of debate as to whether or not that is required. RASPPPoE does work with the new code, but nothing else seems to. Does anyone have experiences with PPPoE working (without RASPPPoE) on the new code?

Fine as long as you don't do pppoe. You have to flash it to the old code for that and all our systems use it.
