Board We are
operating off two towers We were
using Oronoco AP1000 w/3-120 degee sectors on each tower We had a
terrible lightning storm moved through Monday afternoon Our AP’s
on the 300’ tower took a hit We were
protecting the radios with PolyPhasers The
lightning took the polyphasers out The radios
are ok This is
good, but we still had to go up 300’ on the tower The Trango
5.8 backhaul is located 10’ above the 2.4 antennas, they are ok When we
went up there we replaced the Orinoco radios with smartBridges APPO’s We did
install shielded cable however My
question is this, is there protection you can put on the AP’s, that if they
take a close lightning hit That will
protect the radio but will reset after the lightning hit I haven’t
seen any recommendations on any lightning protection from smartBridges, but I
could have overlooked it Thanks Joe East Texas

and feedback, it really makes us to improve our product better in functionality
and performance. Recently released software and firmware were fixes the many of
the issues were reported by our value added customers. We are looking for your
continuous support and suggestion which will help us to serve you better in
future. Thanks Seeni, SB support -----Original

see the suggestion box so far and its status :D hehe Just Kiddin just keep us
posted on the future firmwares that freezing bugs driving my clients mad ( I
lost 1 today L ) Chris From: Seeni
[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Chris,
I
will check with our development team about how could be achieved with these features
on the CPE devices. I added your comments into the suggestion box. Seeni,
SB support -----Original
Message----- Seeni
could it be implemented and tested to see how the effect on performance is done
(as an optional component I mean if like myself we have solid links and want
PPPoE and don't mind a hit of 10% I would turn it on) as for VLAN's I actually
mean mac based vlans so that the client can be tagged at the ap for a certain
ap (business, home, etc) so that they can get automatically divided up at the
noc. I love
when you respond so quick, Seeni do
you have msn? J Chris From: Seeni
[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Our
current airpoint series does support the VLAN tagging by allowing "Non-IP
traffic" option in the advanced TAB. To support with multiple SSID, our
next release version will come this features. Our Speedtrap is under
development process. It is
a good feature to authenticate thru airbridge but it is a simple layer 2 device
which may reduce the performance. Seeni,
Sb support -----Original
Message----- Sounds great! Seeni I have 2 questions A.
For the AP's is there any possibility of VLAN's being implemented either on the
current AP's or in the simpletraps this is something really has over the rest
and I think would be a great added feature. B. On the Airbridges to implement PPPoE,
NO I did NOT say support I said PPPoE, as in the ability to enter the clients
username and password in simplemonitor and it will authenticate the user. THIS
WOULD BE A KICK A** Feature and would definitely be worth it. Whats the
practicality and probability of this? This would in my vision make both products
worth their weight in gold and both would really meet that "carrier
grade" product specifications like it says on the website. Also whats the schedule on the firmware to
bring the Airpoint up to grade with the pro's and also are we going to get an
acknowledgement of the freezing problem from the atmel chip and a fix for it in
the new version PLEASE. Chris -----Original Message----- At the moment, we do not have Qos features
on the sB devices. In future Seeni, SB support -----Original Message----- I am using a Cisco AP350 as my AP and
using the SBTotal (and some QoS Basis Service Set (QBSS)-Based on IEEE
802.11e DRAFT version 3.3 The issue is, if I have the AP350
broadcast this info, will the SB's use it? or should I just turn that off
to conserve on overhead? Thanks The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion
