Title: RE: [smartBridges] QoS on SBTotals

Chris,

I will check with our development team about how could be achieved with these features on the CPE devices. I added your comments into the suggestion box.

Seeni could it be implemented and tested to see how the effect on performance is done (as an optional component I mean if like myself we have solid links and want PPPoE and don't mind a hit of 10% I would turn it on) as for VLAN's I actually mean mac based vlans so that the client can be tagged at the ap for a certain ap (business, home, etc) so that they can get automatically divided up at the noc.

I love when you respond so quick,

Seeni do you have msn? J

Our current airpoint series does support the VLAN tagging by allowing "Non-IP traffic" option in the advanced TAB. To support with multiple SSID, our next release version will come this features. Our Speedtrap is under development process.

It is a good feature to authenticate thru airbridge but it is a simple layer 2 device which may reduce the performance.

Sounds great! Seeni I have 2 questions A. For the AP's is there any possibility of VLAN's being implemented either on the current AP's or in the simpletraps this is something really has over the rest and I think would be a great added feature.

B. On the Airbridges to implement PPPoE, NO I did NOT say support I said PPPoE, as in the ability to enter the clients username and password in simplemonitor and it will authenticate the user. THIS WOULD BE A KICK A** Feature and would definitely be worth it. Whats the practicality and probability of this?

This would in my vision make both products worth their weight in gold and both would really meet that "carrier grade" product specifications like it says on the website.

Also whats the schedule on the firmware to bring the Airpoint up to grade with the pro's and also are we going to get an acknowledgement of the freezing problem from the atmel chip and a fix for it in the new version PLEASE.

At the moment, we do not have Qos features on the sB devices. In future
release, we will include this option together with multiple SSID
support.
In order to associate ABO with Cisco350 AP, please try to set the
preamble to "long" and this setting automatically transmitted to ABO
once associated. By default, Cisco preamble setting is "short".
If you are having trouble in the association with ABO, then change to
"short".

I am using a Cisco AP350 as my AP and using the SBTotal (and some
outdoors) for CPE.  I am trying to fine tune the cisco to interoperate
better with the SB's.  One thing that Cisco has is the QoS capabilities
from IEEE 802.11e. :

QoS Basis Service Set (QBSS)-Based on IEEE 802.11e DRAFT version 3.3

The issue is, if I have the AP350 broadcast this info, will the SB's use

it?  or should I just turn that off to conserve on overhead?

Thanks
Scott Hoffman
