I would try the repeater idea if possible as well. You must have a good PC laying around somewhere. Set that up and get the connection good to go. Guess a laptop would do the same. Then work on getting their box right in order to complete the job. You might not be looking like the town genius now but if they want it that bad and you get it straight they will probably brag about you when its finished.
