Sully, I have been going back and forth with sB about a similar problem. Let me update you on my situation.
I had two aPPOs talking to each other for many months without a single blip in Wireless Bridge Mode. I wanted to hook up another client device, so I switched one aPPO to Access Point Mode, and put the other aPPO in Client Bridge Mode. I added an aP Total in Client Bridge Mode at another site. Everything seemed to be fine until I got a few dry warm days (80 degrees, partly cloudy) and started passing heavy traffic. The ethernet traffic would stop on the aPPO access point. It would magically go back to normal operation in 5-10 minutes. I updated all the firmware to 1.4j.8 (simpleMonitor 1.6). I confirmed it was not a problem with the router behind the access point, and I could still ping the access point from the wireless side (from the client sites). I dis-associated the aP Total client so there was just one client associated and reset everything. I reset everything to factory defaults. Still no luck. I swapped aPPOs to see if just the one was the problem in access point mode. I had the same failures. Then I changed back to wireless bridge mode, and everything was fine again! The problem only occurs in AP/client mode. sB tells me that they have not seen this specific problem, but possibly you are experiencing the same thing. I would really like to know if your units would work in Wireless Bridge Mode. If you duplicate my success in this mode, maybe it will help sB confirm there is a problem here. I am planning on trying the aP Total as the access point now. It was purchased recently, so maybe this is an old bug. But making this switch is a lot of effort, and not a good long term solution for me, so I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Jason P.S. I have found the problem to be prevalent with multiple devices accessing the Internet at the same time. For example, if only one PC is passing heavy traffic, I do not experience failures (I don't think). But, if I am on a Vonage VOIP call, then start to browse the Internet on a PC concurrently, the thing dies within a minute or two. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of The > Wirefree Network > Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2003 2:30 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [smartBridges] UPDATE: New aPPo's DONT WORK > > > The day after I installed this aPPo in ACCESS POINT MODE, I > performed a HARD power reset.
