This is the reason I inquired, but did not initially
specify in my query.  I came across three
installa-tions where the flow switch is a whole lot
closer to the control valve and drain than the 24
inches speci-fied in the manufacturer's (Potter
Signal) litera-ture, where it is indicated as a
"should" and not a "shall."  

We usually have a problem with this when the
installa-tion is inspected by our local FM Global
engineers, as they are used to seeing the switch
mounted at least 2 feet above the drain valve.
